NorthShore Resources has a contract opportunity for a UI/UX Engineer with our client in Bloomington, MN

JOB OVERVIEW:
The UI/UX Engineer will work on front-end web development by thinking from a user’s perspective to create effective, polished and elegant web, mobile sites and applications design that users can easily access and use. This role will drive a customer-oriented design process to understand and satisfy customer needs by interviewing customers, creating low and high fidelity mockups, and writing the actual front-end code in coordination with the engineering team. Designs will be informed by information architecture and digital best practices. Will serve as a discipline leader and may guide work of others. Create brands for specific NIH funded research grants.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, web design or a related field, or four years immediately relatable work experience.
  • 6+ years of graphic and web design
  • Demonstrated experience in creating usable digital interfaces
  • Solid foundation in user interface best practices, including designing for accessibility and performance.
  • Knowledge of web standards, responsive design and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Strong skills in HTML 5, Bootstrap, CSS, JavaScript
  • Experience in the following:
  • Front end frameworks like React or Angular
  • Object oriented development Java (JSP/Servelet) technologies.
  • Graphic design software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw)
  • Prototyping tools (Sketch, Balsamiq, InVision Studio)
  • Automated testing tools (Karma, Jasmine, Selenium)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with business stakeholders, design team, content specialists, and development teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience designing for mobile and/or mobile applications (mobile web, Android and/or iOS).
  • Familiarity with social media and web analytics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with video creation
  • Experience in digital advertisement
  • Experience working with scalable vector graphics (svg) and D3js
  • Familiarity with front-end build tools such as gruntjs, gulp, npm, requirejs, angular cli
  • Knowledge or experience in photography (digital or conventional)
  • Experience with databases like MySQL or Oracle (PL/SQL, Stored Packages/Procedures development, SQL)
