NorthShore Resources has a Contract to Hire opportunity for a Oracle Database Administrator in Richfield, MN!

This Oracle Database Administrator provides operational support within our Clients predefined database architecture.  This position works closely with developers to identify requirements and develop database solutions to maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the database.  This person would be responsible for functions and tasks that pertain to automation, development, analysis, performance tuning, and data modeling.  We need someone that has a passion for technology and a CAN DO attitude.
  • Provides primary DBA support for implementing, upgrading and maintaining the Oracle RDBMS environments and mentor less senior staff in DBA support process and procedures.
  • Automates the creation, maintenance and refreshing of required instances/databases for all environments.
  • Monitors and resolve DB issues; proactively working with application support staff to ensure that application problems do not adversely affect production operations.
  • Collaborates with developers and application owners and vendors to report and resolve problems.
  • Mentors and educates HealthPartners technical staff, vendors and database query users in efficient DB use standards.
  • Implements and tests database backup and recovery technology / procedures for database environments.
  • Ensures compliance of all DB security standards in collaboration with IS&T Security Management.
  • Ensures consistency and quality of DBA documentation and dependencies between versions of application software, DBMS software and Operating System.
  • Forecasts and analyzes future capacity needs; documenting potential issues, recommending solutions to potential capacity problems, and developing tools and utilities to mitigate future capacity issues.
  • Provides analysis and consult during project development; ensuring alignment with enterprise level database strategy.
  • Strong knowledge of' operating systems (i.e. Windows, AIX, Linux)
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent Technical Skills of Oracle 12c databases
  • Experience performing and documenting in-depth analysis
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Available to work outside normal business hours, including weekends and be on-call (7 days x 24 hours)
  • Effectively use Microsoft tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or related field OR 3+ years IS&T related experience
  • 2+ years experience with database development
  • 2+ years experience SQL and PL/SQL or T-SQL programming
  • 2+ years experience with Unix shell, Perl or OS scripting language
  • 2+ years experience using DB modeling tools
  • 2+ years experience with data performance tuning
  • Oracle Certified Professional - OCP DBA Professional
  • Regular Backup and Recovery using Commvault as well as experience using Commvault’s Intellisnap or other thin image database provisioning
  • Hands on Experience using automation tools such as Ansible and Chef.
Experience working in a DevOps environment using Agile and Lean methodologies.
