NorthShore Resources has a Contract-to-Hire opportunity for a BI Development Manager in St. Paul, MN!

The BI Development Manager will lead the development team for the Institutional Global Business Intelligence organization that provides analytic support through application development, programming and ad hoc reporting across multiple business units and functions. Specializations within this team include (but are not limited to): Microsoft Azure/Cloud, Data Analytic Services, Warehousing, Data Modeling, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, PowerBI, Application Development/Management Business Intelligence, Business Reporting.  These services  will help increase competitiveness, improve customer service and retention, reduce overall operating costs, and communicate more effectively internally and externally. 

Main Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to and integrates a broad range of ideas regarding applications development
  • Leads development personnel to solve complex application development projects involving multiple disciplines and may impact multiple business units.
  • Assigns personnel to various projects and directs their activities; reviews and evaluates their work and prepares performance reports. This may involve offshore teams.
  • Confers with and advises subordinates on administrative policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods.
  • Responsible for quality assurance review

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, and/or other technical Business related
  • 10+ years of professional work experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • 8+ Years in data structure and report development using SQL, Microsoft BI (SSRS/SSAS, Azure ML, PowerBI) or similar BI stack tools / languages
  • ​Working knowledge of TFS (Team Foundation Services), VSTS or similar code versioning or release management
  • Agile/Scrum type methodologies
  • 3+ Years leading a team of technical resources
  • Experience leading subordinate managers and extended project teams (including offshore)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong planning, organizing, project management, and time management skills
  • Ability to gain system-wide perspective in order to develop and implement new processes from disparate data sources
  • Strong problem solving, analytic, conceptual and critical thinking skills
  • Self-motivated to quickly learn and understand new concepts and technologies
  • Business acumen and proven ability to work collaboratively with senior level sales and other cross-functional leaders
  • Experience training and supporting business users in a self-service business intelligence environment
  • Statistics experience in basic theory and application a plus
  • Experience in development of reporting in SSRS, PowerBI, or other visual dashboard tools
  • Effective listening, written and oral communication skills with ability to synthesize essential information to stakeholders
